Measure the depth of water with your hands.
Arch your fingers as though they could not be broken.
Consider the gradual darkness underwater as an equal
to depth, the murk, the pressure on your ears, the cooling
of your eyes as you begin to see outlines of stones,
a tree branch, waterlogged, wedged in silt.
Consider the height of these lichen-spotted cliffs,
above the water as a gauge for what is underneath,
that kind of distance inverted in the water,
that kind of weightlessness converted to weight
of river and earth, not lift but fall, a boulder
you'll never move, deep shade nothing will break.
The undertow they warned you about keeps you
under like a water plant, hands now fronds
measuring the speed of the current, the strength
this time of your spine burrowing in the bottom,
the dark polestar, the anchor inside it.
We will want to know when you return to the surface.

STANISLAW ZOLADZ

"Después de la lluvia"
Stanislaw Zoladz nació en 1952 en Polonia, y recibió su formación
artística en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Cracovia. Desde 1978 vive y
trabaja en Suecia.
El tema principal de sus acuarelas es la luz. Zoladz gusta de pintar al aire libre motivos naturales de su entorno.
Este artista también hace viajes anuales de pintura a lugares
interesantes. Sus viajes le han llevado a Italia, Gambia, West Indies,
Lofoten, Noruega, Marruecos, España, Costa Oeste, Aland y Finlandia,
donde encuentra la inspiración.
Tambiénl le gusta volver a los viejos sitios familiares; en
el archipiélago de Roslagen , Simpnäs y Arholma. Allí se encuentra con
sus temas familiares que pinta una y otra vez, con luz y condiciones
meteorológicas diferentes.

Samantha French graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2005. Her paintings show a strong connection to her Minnesota lifestyle and memories. French has exhibited her paintings and is included in many private and public collections throughout the country. French is now living and painting full time in New York.
"My current body of work is focused on swimmers underwater and above. Using vague yet consuming memories from my childhood summers spent immersed in the tepid lakes of northern Minnesota, I attempt to recreate the quiet tranquility of water and nature; of days spent sinking and floating, still and peaceful. These paintings are a link to my home and continual search for the feeling of the sun on my face and warm summer days at the lake. At the same time, I am drawn to an idealistic time before my own, where swim caps and wool swimsuits were commonplace. This combination of memory, observation and photography (old and new) has allowed me to preserve the transitory qualities of water and remembrance.

Dans l'eau de la claire fontaine
Elle se baignait toute nue
Une saute de vent soudaine
Jeta ses habits dans les nues
En détresse, elle me fit signe
Pour la vêtir, d'aller chercher

Fleurs de lis ou fleurs d'oranger
